The worsening flood situation in parts of the Ketu North Municipality continues to raise serious concerns as several communities grapple with the devastating effects of persistent flooding.
As part of ongoing efforts to assess the extent of the damage, monitoring visits were conducted this morning by the MP Hon. Edem Agbana to the affected areas of Dzodze, Bagome and Taso Lanes. The visits provided firsthand insight into the challenges residents are facing and highlighted the urgent need for intervention.
The floods have caused extensive destruction across the affected communities, leaving many families counting significant losses. Homes, personal belongings, food supplies, and other valuables have been damaged or swept away by the rising waters.
Residents described the situation as one of the most difficult periods they have experienced in recent years, with many struggling to recover from the impact.
During the assessment, it became evident that immediate relief support was needed to assist the hardest-hit households. In response, a personal donation by the MP Hom. Edem Agbana consisting of food items, toiletries, etc was made to provide temporary relief to some affected families through NADMO. The gesture aims to ease the burden on victims while broader emergency response measures are being coordinated.
The Municipal National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) has been tasked with leading the distribution of the donated items to ensure they reach those most in need. Authorities are also expected to conduct further assessments to determine the full extent of the damage and identify additional support required for affected residents. Stakeholders continue to call for swift intervention from NADMO and other relevant agencies to help mitigate the situation.
Despite the challenges, there remains a strong commitment to stand with affected families throughout this difficult period. Efforts will continue to focus on advocating for support, mobilizing resources, and ensuring that victims receive the assistance necessary to rebuild their lives.
The flood crisis serves as a reminder of the need for long-term solutions to address recurring flooding and strengthen the resilience of communities across Ketu North.
