OSP to Review Extortion Claims Involving Sammy Gyamfi and Afenyo-Markin

1 min read

Ghana's Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has announced plans to evaluate allegations of extortion and associated misconduct leveled by Sammy Gyamfi, Chief Executive of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), against Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin.

In a formal statement released on Monday, August 24, the anti-graft agency acknowledged the growing public interest in the matter, noting that it has already received multiple formal complaints. These include a joint submission from two individuals alongside two separate petitions filed by other interested parties.

The OSP explained that its preliminary review will determine if the accusations fall under its legal jurisdiction. Based on this initial assessment, the agency will decide whether there is enough merit to launch a full investigation.
