MP Hon. Frank Afriyie Leads Transformation in Afadjato South with Sod-Cutting for 30 Major Development Projects

For 14th March

The Afadjato South District has taken a momentous step toward comprehensive community development following the official sod-cutting and handing-over ceremony for 30 new development projects across the district. Member of Parliament Hon. Frank Afriyie was joined by Hon. James Gunu, District Chief Executive Hon. Manfred Tawiah, traditional rulers, and community members to launch these critical interventions. Together, these initiatives reflect a steadfast commitment to elevating local living standards, boosting the regional economy, and ensuring equitable access to vital social services for every resident.

Education remains at the forefront of the district’s transformation, with significant infrastructure upgrades underway to foster better learning environments. To expand access to quality education and alleviate classroom overcrowding, new 3-unit JHS classroom blocks complete with staff common rooms and head teacher’s offices are being constructed at Kpeve Old Town DA School, Goviefe Agordome, Woadze Tsatoe DA Basic School, and Lomnava Nyive/Hove AME Zion Primary School. Furthermore, early childhood education is getting a boost with a new 2-unit Kindergarten block at Logba Horglikope DA Primary School, equipped with an office, store, servery, washrooms, and a dedicated courtyard for young learners.

The health and well-being of the electorate are equally receiving essential support through targeted primary healthcare investments. Construction is officially underway for a fully equipped Community-Based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound, complete with nurses’ quarters, in Agate. This modern facility will bring critical healthcare and maternal services directly to the local community, reducing travel times during emergencies and furthering national efforts to decentralize and strengthen healthcare delivery at the grassroots level.

In addition to health and educational facilities, critical infrastructure projects have been awarded to enhance connectivity and stimulate local trade. Key road networks including the Kpeve–Goviefe Todzi, Nyangbo Konda, Logba Alakpeti–Klikpo, and Logba Vuinta–Leklebi Dafor roads are undergoing construction and resurfacing. Once completed, these rehabilitated roads will dramatically ease the movement of goods, service providers, and commuters, while simultaneously opening up the district’s agricultural, health, educational, and tourism sectors to new opportunities.

Essential public utility services are also receiving urgent attention through the collaborative leadership of the MP and the District Chief Executive. Active efforts are in progress to resolve the long-standing Ve-Golokuati water crisis and expand telecommunication network coverage throughout the area. Complementing these measures is the drilling and installation of 30 mechanized boreholes district-wide, guaranteeing access to safe drinking water, lowering the incidence of water-borne illnesses, and significantly easing the daily burden on women and children across Afadjato South.
