The Member of Parliament for Afadjato South, Hon. Frank Afriyie, joined key regional and local government leaders on October 2nd to officially commission and hand over 20 development projects across the district. Accompanied by the Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, and the District Chief Executive, Hon. Manfred Tawiah, the MP led the delegation through various communities to inaugurate facilities designed to address critical needs in education, water supply, and public administration.
Educational development stood at the center of the initiative, with several communities receiving brand-new classrooms and specialized learning centers. Key educational facilities unveiled include a 3-unit classroom block with ancillary facilities at Leklebi Dafor, a 3-unit classroom block with a staff common room at Goviefe, and a completed 3-unit classroom block with an office and staff room at Adigbo Tornu D/A Basic School in Kowu Agordome. Additional educational upgrades were handed over at Wodze Tsato and Kpeve Old Town, alongside a fully equipped 2-unit early childhood development (KG) block at Horglikope featuring a servery, washrooms, courtyard, and protective fencing.
Recognizing the vital role of technology in modern learning, the commissioned works also significantly expanded access to digital literacy and modern ICT infrastructure. Modern ICT facilities were officially handed over at both Ve-Deme and Tafi Abuife, giving students and young residents direct access to essential digital tools. To further support teaching staff and ensure educators remain rooted in the district, a 6-unit teachers’ bungalow was commissioned at Tafi Mador, providing comfortable, modern housing for local teachers.
Water security and public health formed another major cornerstone of the district-wide initiative. To ensure clean, safe, and reliable drinking water for rural residents, mechanised boreholes were commissioned across numerous settlements, including Emil Baze, Nyagbo Odumasi, Liati Agbonyra, Liati Dzogbega, Have Atseame, Goviefe Todzi, Goviefe Kowu, and Nyagbo Gagbefe. A standalone mechanised borehole system was also integrated into the educational infrastructure serving Kpeve Old Town, guaranteeing sustained access to clean water for pupils and teachers alike.
Beyond community facilities, the official drive also focused on bolstering local government administrative capacity and operational support. To accommodate essential administrative personnel, a 4-bedroom bungalow and dedicated mechanised borehole were handed over to the District Coordinating Director at Ve-Golokuati, alongside a new 2-bedroom residence for the District Forestry Officer. Speaking at the events, local leaders emphasized that these combined projects represent a transformative investment in the general development, health, and academic prosperity of all communities across the Afadjato South District.
