Akatsi South is experiencing a significant upgrade in telecommunications infrastructure through the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC). On May 26th, the Member of Parliament for Akatsi South announced ongoing connectivity developments aimed at expanding network coverage and improving digital access for local residents and businesses. Among the prominent projects underway is the installation of a new telecom mast at Torve, strategically located as the gateway to the Akatsi South Constituency. This long-awaited intervention marks a transformative milestone for the municipality's economic and social landscape.
The telecom expansion at Torve is set to extend far-reaching benefits to surrounding communities, including Nugblebi, Agordoe, and neighboring areas that have historically faced communication challenges. Enhanced internet and mobile voice connectivity will enable local entrepreneurs to connect with broader markets, support students with digital educational resources, and improve access to essential public services. By laying a robust digital foundation at the constituency's main entry point, the initiative creates immediate opportunities for community integration and economic growth across the district.
Looking ahead, the connectivity drive is slated to reach several other key communities across the constituency. Next in line for development is Sremanu, where a new installation will resolve longstanding network issues affecting its entire catchment area, alongside targeted improvements for Wute and Avenorpeme. Furthermore, plans are set to upgrade the existing infrastructure in Atidzive to high-speed 4G network coverage. These combined projects ensure that both rural and urban corners of Akatsi South will soon enjoy reliable, high-speed mobile and internet connectivity.
Expressing deep gratitude for the initiative, the MP extended special appreciation to the Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation and GIFEC, led by Rashid Computer Tanko. Their sustained commitment to expanding national communication infrastructure continues to transform underserved communities into connected, thriving hubs. As these vital telecom projects reach completion, the residents of Akatsi South stand ready to reap the vast educational, social, and economic rewards of a fully digitized constituency.
