The Member of Parliament for Afadjato South, Hon. Frank Afriyie, has expressed deep appreciation after receiving a significant batch of grain supplies under President John Dramani Mahama’s "Feed Ghana" initiative. The donation aims to support local farmers, boost local food reserves, and enhance agricultural production across the constituency. Receiving the supply on behalf of his constituents, the lawmaker commended the government’s commitment to driving sustainable agricultural development across rural communities.

During the presentation ceremony, Hon. Frank Afriyie highlighted the root causes of recurring food shortages in the nation. He stated candidly that the country’s ongoing struggles with seasonal hunger and rising food prices stem directly from an inability to produce food at scale. He emphasized that relying on food imports and small-scale production leaves local communities vulnerable to supply chain disruptions and economic hardship.

Calling for a decisive shift in local agricultural practices, the MP urged farmers throughout the district to expand their cultivation efforts and adopt modern farming strategies. He stressed that achieving long-term food security requires a collective effort, with both the government providing input support and local farmers actively increasing their yield. According to him, maximizing local land potential is the single most effective pathway toward national self-sufficiency.

In his closing remarks, Hon. Frank Afriyie reaffirmed his commitment to backing agricultural programs that empower smallholder farmers in Afadjato South. He encouraged the youth and community members to embrace agriculture not merely as a survival mechanism, but as a viable commercial venture. By working hand in hand under initiatives like "Feed Ghana," he expressed strong optimism that the country can ultimately produce enough food to feed itself and build a resilient economy.
