Ghana’s Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has detailed major achievements across the country's security and public safety sectors during the latest Government Accountability Series.
The initial batch of 10,000 successful recruits is currently undergoing training across the Police, Fire, Prisons, and Immigration Services. An additional 10,000 candidates selected from the current applicant pool are slated to begin their training next year.
A total of 26 individuals have been processed before the courts in connection with election-related deaths. While one person has been discharged, 25 suspects remain on trial, and security agencies are actively pursuing 13 additional suspects for arrest and prosecution.
Authorities have repatriated 3,241 migrant beggars to neighboring nations as of July 2026. This figure includes 2,281 individuals sent home by the end of 2025 and 960 more during the first seven months of 2026.
Operations spearheaded by the Narcotics Control Commission led to 217 arrests and 165 prosecutions. Law enforcement intercepted over 8.5 tonnes of illegal drugs alongside 45.4 million Tramadol pills. Furthermore, officials recovered 73 tainted assets, seized over 19 kilograms of gold linked to drug-related money laundering, and secured restraint orders on cash and property valued at more than GH¢6.9 million.
