2 min read

The Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has praised police officers for their hard work and dedication in keeping the country safe. He noted that the way officers behave affects how much the public trusts the government.

He spoke on Friday, August 21, 2026, at the National Police Headquarters during the Police Regional Command Conference. The Minister asked Regional Commanders to lead well, take responsibility, and maintain high professional standards in their regions.

He also spoke about new technology to improve police work, such as the TRAFITECH system for traffic rules and the National Criminal Automated Biometric Identification System. He added that the police plan to roll out over 700 digital enrolment stations across the country by the end of 2026 to help gather intelligence, investigate crimes, and prevent offenses.

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, also addressed the meeting. He stated that the public wants a police force that is honest, active, skilled, fair, and reliable. He urged the Regional Commanders to show strong leadership and make choices that improve the Police Service.

Other leaders at the conference included members of the Police Management Board (POMAB), the Chief Director of the Interior Ministry, the Medical Director of the Police Hospital, the Commandant of the Police Academy, and Regional Police Commanders from across Ghana.
