Phase 2 of the 'Light Up Ketu North' Project initiated by the MP Hon.Edem Agbana has officially come to a successful close, marking another significant milestone in efforts to improve safety and visibility across communities in the Ketu North Constituency.
The initiative, which was launched in 2025, continues to transform towns and villages through the repair, replacement, and installation of streetlights along major roads and public spaces. The project forms part of a broader commitment to enhancing public infrastructure and creating safer environments for residents and commuters.
Last week, a team from the Electricity Company of Ghana collaborated with the constituency team to undertake extensive maintenance works across several communities. The exercise involved fixing faulty streetlights, replacing damaged bulbs, and restoring non-functional lighting systems in areas that had been left in darkness for some time.
The intervention also complemented earlier efforts that saw streetlights distributed to every Electoral Area through Assembly Members to support local development initiatives.
Communities that benefited from this phase of the project include Dzodze Alagbavi (Global City), Dzodze to Kuli, Dzodze-Ehi Station to Dzodze Global Down, Penyi to Ehi, Ehi, Ehi Gbegbekorpe, Agorve, Agorvega, Atsikpey, Xantroli, Xipe, Devego, Dekpor, Adzoatsi, Xeti, Weta, Weta Junction, Adevukorpe, Dzakpasukorpe, Atiteti, Agorve Junction, Afife Health Center, Afife R/C, Avunu, Kutsinu, and Wuti. Residents in these areas are expected to benefit from improved nighttime visibility, enhanced road safety, and increased security.
The 'Light Up Ketu North' project has been widely praised by residents for addressing one of the constituency’s longstanding challenges. Improved street lighting is expected to reduce accidents, discourage criminal activities, and support economic activities at night, particularly for traders and transport operators.
Many residents have described the initiative as timely and impactful, especially in communities where darkness had become a major concern.
With Phase 2 now completed, preparations are already underway for Phase 3 of the project, which is expected to extend the intervention to more communities across the constituency.
The continued expansion of the project reflects a strong dedication to community development and the vision of fully “Lighting Up Ketu North” for the benefit of all residents.
