On August 6, 2026, as part of the National Sanitation Day exercise for the month of August, the MP for Hohoe Hon. Kumi Prosper joined the Assembly Member for the area, officials of MuSAP, the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP) team, and other stakeholders for a clean-up and drainage improvement exercise in Gbi-Kpeme.
The exercise focused on the stretch from Kpeme High (Basic School) towards the Washing Bay Junction, where poor drainage and deteriorating road conditions have posed significant challenges, particularly during periods of heavy rainfall.
With the support of the DRIP excavator, desilting works were carried out to improve drainage and provide a temporary solution while longer-term interventions are considered.
The team also undertook a vegetation clearance exercise behind the perimeter wall of St. Francis College of Education, where rows of trees have been planted. Overgrown weeds and underbrush between the trees were cleared to improve visibility for motorists and pedestrians using that stretch, while enhancing safety and the overall appearance of the area.
