The Ho Municipal Assembly has refuted claims that public transport fares for "Can Do" tricycles have been raised within the municipality.
In an official statement issued on Monday, 7th September 2026, and signed by the Municipal Coordinating Director, Henry Yao Amesmeku, on behalf of the Municipal Chief Executive, the Assembly addressed reports that operators had unilaterally increased fares from GH¢3.00 to GH¢5.00.
Municipal Chief Executive Hon. Stephen Adom clarified that the Assembly has neither backed nor approved any such fare adjustment. He emphasized that raising fares without prior consultation or regulatory approval from local authorities is entirely unacceptable.
To resolve the issue, the Assembly is currently meeting with key stakeholders, including representatives of the tricycle operators, to discuss the underlying reasons for the sudden price change and find a balanced solution for both commuters and drivers.
In the interim, the public is advised to reject the GH¢5.00 charge and continue paying the standard GH¢3.00 fare until an official agreement is reached.
