The Ministry of Energy and Green Transition, in partnership with the Volta Regional Co-ordinating Council, has officially introduced a Turnkey Electrification Project to expand power distribution across the Volta Region.

Executed under the Rural Electricity Acceleration and Urban Intensification Initiative (REIP), the project was formally unveiled during a stakeholder sensitization event at the Volta Regional Co-ordinating Council premises. The ceremony aimed to outline the initiative's targets, clarify implementation duties for partner agencies, and build community awareness.

Speaking at the launch, Volta Regional Minister Hon. James Gunu commended the Energy Ministry for prioritizing the region, noting that stable power access is fundamental to unlocking local economic growth and improving livelihood standards.

The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor, highlighted that the drive aligns with national goals to widen grid coverage and promote balanced regional development. He confirmed that 206 communities spread across all 18 Municipal and District Assemblies within the region will be linked to the national grid.

Contracted to Byes and Ways Limited, the electrification work is scheduled for completion within a six-month window.
