Government Declines MTN's GH20m Offer For Ghanaian Xenophobic Victims From South Africa

The government of Ghana through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headed by Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa have declined MTN’s GHS20 million offer for Ghanaian victims of South African xenophobic attacks.

Prior to these development, the South African telecom giant MTN have hinted to have prepare an amount of money and incentives as repatriation for victims of the Xenophobic attacks who were being evacuated from South Africa. The attacks had led to the death and loss of properties of hundreds of lives of people from other African nations including Ghana.

The Foreign Affairs Minister upon receiving the information, have issued a press release declining the offer from MTN stating that the government of Ghana have allocated and prepared every support the victims may need.

He stressed that the country is a 100% prepared to take care of its citizens anytime and any moment, that there are adequate provisions made to cater for ongoing evacuations and reintegration processes.
