GNFS Intensifies Fire Prevention Campaigns with Targeted Sensitization in Kwahu and Kibi

2 min read

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has reaffirmed its commitment to public safety by carrying out targeted fire safety education campaigns across the Aduamoa and Kibi communities in the Eastern Region. On October 1, the Aduamoa District team, led by Leading Firewoman (LFw) Asantewaa, engaged residents, street hawkers, and households in the Kwahu Tafo Jotech Area. The sensitization drive focused on best practices for safe Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) and electrical appliance usage, proper hazard clearing, and the dangers of unattended cooking. Young children in the community were also specifically cautioned on the risks of handling matches, lighters, and electrical outlets.

In a similar exercise on September 30, 2026, the Kibi Fire Station team, headed by Leading Fireman (LFm) Yeboah, organized a comprehensive training session for 25 staff members of the Kibi Municipal Court Complex. The interactive session covered common causes of workplace fires, proactive housekeeping practices, safe evacuation protocols, and fundamental firefighting techniques. Participants were also given hands-on experience through a practical fire extinguisher demonstration to build confidence in managing minor fire outbreaks.

The outreach programs yielded positive feedback from community members and institutional staff alike. Court officials in Kibi expressed sincere gratitude to the fire service personnel for the practical insights, pledging to strictly enforce safety and preventive measures within the court complex. Through these sustained grassroots interventions, the GNFS continues to foster a culture of fire consciousness and emergency preparedness across homes, streets, and workplaces.
