The Religious Affairs Department of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has officially inducted two new Regional Chaplains to strengthen the spiritual, moral, and psychological well-being of its personnel. Led by the Chaplain General and Counseling Psychologist, Rev. DO I IK. Erzoah Amihere, the inductions mark a significant milestone in expanding the service’s chaplaincy and counseling support network across the country.
The ceremony commenced on September 15, 2026, at the Bono Regional Headquarters in Sunyani, where Rev. Fr. ADO II Evans Obeng Ameyaw was inducted as the Regional Chaplain for the Bono Region. His appointment carries historical significance as he becomes the very first Roman Catholic priest to serve within the GNFS. The momentum continued the following day in Kumasi, where Pastor LFM Philip Dodzi Agbekonyi was sworn in as the Ashanti Regional Chaplain, distinguishing himself as the service's first Church of Pentecost pastor.
Both newly inducted chaplains step into their roles tasked with offering crucial pastoral guidance, counseling, and faith-based assistance to officers facing the unique rigors of fire and rescue operations. The GNFS extended its warmest congratulations to both officers, wishing them wisdom, grace, and resilience as they begin their dedicated ministry to the service and the nation.
