Prompt action by firefighters from the New Juaben North Municipal Fire Station saved a 17-bedroom compound house from being completely consumed by flames at Asokore, near the Asokore Rest House in Koforidua.
The emergency call was received at 4:01 PM on Sunday, August 23, 2026. A team led by ADO II Awuku reached the scene ten minutes later, at 4:11 PM, where they discovered two bedrooms of the large residential building engulfed in flames.
The crew managed to bring the fire under control by 4:37 PM and fully put out the blaze by 5:00 PM.
While the personal belongings inside the two affected rooms were totally destroyed, the firefighters successfully contained the outbreak, preventing the fire from sweeping through the remaining 15 bedrooms. Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were recorded during the incident.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Meanwhile, the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has advised the public to keep their surroundings safe and report fire outbreaks immediately to reduce damage.
