The Ghana Prisons Service joined key stakeholders on Friday, August 21, 2026, in Accra to celebrate the 50th Graduation Ceremony of the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC). Centered on the theme “Celebrating 50 Years of Excellence in Professional Military Education,” the event honored graduates completing Senior Command and Staff Course 47, the Master of Defence and International Politics, and the Master of Science in Security Studies.

Director of Prisons in charge of Operations and Facility Management, DOP Benedict Bob-Derry, represented the Service at the milestone event. This engagement reflects the core vision of the Think Prisons 360 Degrees initiative, which prioritizes institutional partnerships, inter-agency collaboration, and active stakeholder engagement to enhance inmate rehabilitation, reintegration, and custody management.

Delivering an address on behalf of Vice President and Armed Forces Council Chairperson Her Excellency Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, Defence Minister Hon. Kenneth Gilbert Adjei commended the graduating class. He emphasized the critical need for integrity, adaptability, innovation, and inter-service collaboration to tackle evolving security challenges effectively.

The high-profile ceremony drew prominent dignitaries, including Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Deputy Minister for Transport Hon. Dorcas Affo-Toffey, members of the diplomatic corps, and leadership from across Ghana's security agencies.
