Ghana Police Service Prepares Officers for October 1 Launch of Traffitech-GH Automated Traffic System

​The Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service, in collaboration with its private sector partners, has held an enforcement training session for selected personnel and key public sector stakeholders in Ho, Volta Region. Hosted on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at the Stevens Hotel Conference Room, the workshop focused on operationalising the Traffitech-GH system ahead of its official nationwide rollout on October 1, 2026. The engagement also sensitized participants on the newly enacted Road Traffic Regulations, 2026 (L.I. 2519), and the Road Traffic (Amendment) Act, 2025 (Act 1153).

​A total of 45 representatives gathered for the session, drawing officers from the regional MTTD alongside officials from the Judicial Service, the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA), the National Insurance Commission (NIC), and the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA). As the fifth and final leg of a series of nationwide enforcement training programmes, the workshop served as a crucial step in building inter-agency alignment and technical readiness across Ghana's transport and legal sectors.

​The curriculum provided participants with comprehensive insights into automated traffic offenses and their corresponding fine structures under Regulation 242. Attendees were guided through the end-to-end framework of the Traffitech-GH platform, including the formal contest flow designed to handle driver disputes. Additionally, designated back-office personnel underwent hands-on training on operating advanced surveillance equipment, including in-vehicle fixed cameras and the handheld or tripod-mounted Lasercam4 speed detection units.

​To ensure seamless deployment come October 1, infrastructure preparations in the region have been finalized with the setting up of the Volta Regional back-office at the MTTD Office in Ho, fully integrated with updated Traffitech-GH software. This modern technology integration aims to enhance road safety monitoring, ensure objective speed enforcement, and significantly streamline traffic management across the country.
