Engagement on the sidelines of the National Labour Conference signals commitment to advancing accessibility and opportunities for persons with disabilities in the Volta Region.
A delegation from the Ghana Federation of Disability Organisations (GFD) has engaged with Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, in a productive meeting held on the sidelines of the ongoing National Labour Conference.
The high-level interaction took place during the National Tripartite Committee’s conference, running from June 26 to 28, 2026, at the Volta Serene Hotel in Ho. Under the theme “Strengthening Industrial Harmony as a Catalyst for Accelerated Economic Growth and Development,” the event gathered labour stakeholders, government officials, and civil society groups.
During the engagement, the GFD team introduced their mission and discussed collaborative strategies to promote disability inclusion across the region. Hon. James Gunu warmly welcomed the delegation and expressed his administration’s openness to partnering with the Federation. He emphasised the importance of inclusive policies that ensure persons with disabilities actively participate in regional development.
This meeting underscores GFD’s ongoing efforts to build strong partnerships at both national and regional levels. It also highlights Hon. Gunu’s commitment to humility, collaboration, and inclusive governance in the Volta Region.
Stakeholders view the engagement as a positive step toward addressing barriers to employment, accessibility, and social integration for persons with disabilities. Further collaborations are expected in the coming months.
