Just four months after taking the helm at Damang Gold Mine Limited (DGML), Engineers & Planners has launched a major recruitment drive, aiming to fill nearly 400 positions across various operational levels. Notably, the vast majority of these new hires are being drawn directly from communities within the mine’s immediate catchment area.
This swift move has drawn high praise from traditional authorities, opinion leaders, and youth groups across the region.
For many, this early milestone validates the mine's transition to a wholly indigenous Ghanaian-owned operator. Led by prominent businessman Dr. Ibrahim Mahama, the company is proving that local ownership can directly translate into tangible economic participation for host communities. Looking ahead, local representatives remain highly optimistic that as operations expand, this initial wave of hiring will pave the way for even deeper economic empowerment in the region.
