The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Hon. Dr. John Abdulai Jinapor, has led a delegation of heads of agencies under his ministry to the Volta Region for a critical performance review retreat. The delegation commenced their official visit today, Thursday, October 8, 2026, with a courtesy call on the Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, at his office in Ho to discuss strategic energy needs and collaborative development across the region.

During the meeting, Hon. James Gunu warmly welcomed the sector leaders and underscored the critical role of a reliable, sustainable power supply in driving the region's industrial growth. He highlighted how robust energy infrastructure directly underpins the operational success of the national 24-Hour Economy vision. Additionally, the Regional Minister briefed the delegation on the planned development of a landmark 1,500-acre industrial park, stressing the need for close partnership with the energy sector to power the site, attract corporate investment, and create jobs for local youth.

Following their discussions at the Regional Coordinating Council, Hon. Gunu escorted the Minister and his team on a traditional courtesy visit to Togbui Afede XIV, Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State. The delegation expressed their reverence for the traditional leadership and demonstrated their commitment to community upliftment by donating cash and assorted items. A key highlight of the visit was a targeted financial contribution toward the Togbui’s Educational Fund to support youth development and literacy within the state.

The performance review retreat brings together top policy makers and utility leadership to evaluate sector milestones, address distribution challenges, and align regional energy infrastructure with national economic priorities. Hon. Dr. Jinapor expressed optimism about the outcomes of the review, assuring regional stakeholders that the Ministry remains focused on strengthening power stability and accelerating green energy projects across the Volta Region and the country at large.
