Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) in the Volta and Oti Regions has disseminated a press release announcing a scheduled temporary power outage on Sunday, August 2, 2026, in parts of Volta and Oti Regions. This follows a technical challenge at the GRIDCo Asiekpe Bulk Supply Point located in the Volta Region.
ECG has made it clear that the necessary temporary power shedding is due to a fault on a transformer at the Asiekpe GRIDCo Substation. This is to allow engineers resolve the problem and put measures to maintain the stability of the power system.
Areas expected to be affected include Ho Technical University, SSNIT Flats, Goshen City, GNTC, Police Headquarters, Serene Hotel, GWCL Office, Sokode Lokoe, parts of Green Valley, Sokode Gborgame, Abutia, Akrofu, portions of the UHAS Main Campus, Kpando Township, Sovie, Vakpo, Afoega, Aveme, Ayoma, Tetema, Kute, Mate, Baglo, parts of Hohoe, Ho Polyclinic, Dave, Tritrinu, Ho Airport, Wumenu, Kpetoe, Jasikan, Bodada, Akpafu, Bowiri, Ayeremu, Adumadum Atigor, and surrounding communities.
ECG has encourages its customers to stay calm as its engineers are working diligently to rectify the fault and restore power supply as quickly as possible. They further apologized for any inconvenience the exercise may cause.
