2 min read

The Eastern Regional Command of the Ghana National Fire Service, led by Regional Fire Officer ACFO II Ofori Asomoah, paid a supportive visit to Station Officer II (StnO II) James Atuahene on Tuesday, October 6, 2026. Accompanied by the Regional Second-in-Command, Regional Accountant, and key management personnel, the delegation visited the officer to assess his well-being, offer words of encouragement, and express the Command’s full solidarity during his recovery.

StnO II Atuahene sustained injuries on the night of Saturday, October 3, 2026, during an active emergency response to a major fire incident involving a mixed-use residential and commercial building in Koforidua. While courageously working to contain the blaze and protect life and property, a structural section of the building suddenly collapsed, trapping him beneath falling debris. Firefighters on the scene acted swiftly to execute a rescue operation, immediately pulling him from the rubble to receive emergency care.

He is currently admitted at the Central Hospital in Koforidua, where medical staff report that he is responding well to treatment. During the visit, the Regional Command reaffirmed its unwavering support for StnO II Atuahene and his family, extending warm wishes for a complete and speedy recovery as he continues his medical care.
