Dzodze St. Anthony’s Hospital Set to Welcome New Cancer Center

2 min read

Relief is on the horizon for St. Anthony’s Hospital following a partnership between non-governmental organization Regulus and Providence Insurance Company to construct an ultra-modern cancer center for the facility.

According to hospital management, the initiative comes in response to a steady rise in cancer cases recorded across the southern part of the Volta Region.

Established in 1960, St. Anthony’s Hospital requires significant expansion and equipment upgrades to handle the growing patient load. Mr. William Ladzaka, the hospital's Administrator, explained that the new center is funded through a donation by Regulus Investment and Financial Services, channeled via Providence Insurance Company. The GH₵1 million facility is scheduled for completion within one year.

Mr. Ladzaka highlighted the regional importance of the project, noting that specialized cancer care in southern Ghana is currently concentrated almost entirely in Accra and Kumasi. Once operational, the new center will fill a critical healthcare gap for residents of the Volta Region and surrounding areas.

An appeal for funds launched during the event successfully raised GH₵42,000 to support the project.

The launch event drew key stakeholders, including a representative of the Volta Regional Minister, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs), members of the clergy, traditional leaders, and health officials.
