The bail application for Bernard Antwi Boasiako, widely known as Chairman Wontumi and former Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has been postponed to October 15, 2026.
The delay occurred because neither Chairman Wontumi who is presently serving a 20-year sentence for illegal mining nor his legal representatives were present in court for the scheduled hearing. Meanwhile, Deputy Attorney General Justice Srem-Sai attended the session on behalf of the state.
With the adjournment, the court will hold off on reviewing the bail petition until it reconvenes on October 15. We will keep you informed as new developments unfold in this high-profile case.
