1 min read

The Christian Council of Ghana has paid a courtesy call on the leadership of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) to praise the organization’s ongoing commitment to transparency, sustainable environmental practices, and ethical gold trading.

Dr. Joyce Laco Steiner, Director of Programmes and Advocacy, led the visiting delegation and emphasized that the country’s vast mineral resources are a natural blessing. She stressed that these resources must be administered with high ethical standards and full accountability to benefit both current citizens and future generations.

In response, Sammy Gyamfi, Chief Executive Officer of GoldBod, explained the institution’s core responsibilities under Act 1140. He highlighted how GoldBod strengthens macroeconomic stability and boosts foreign exchange reserves. Furthermore, he shared updates on key strategic developments, including:

Accelerating local gold refining and expanding domestic jewellery manufacturing.

Establishing a state-of-the-art fire assay laboratory that meets international testing benchmarks.

Driving land reclamation projects and restoring water bodies impacted by illegal and unregulated mining operations.

Both parties concluded the meeting by pledging to work together to support sustainable development and ensure Ghana's mineral wealth is managed responsibly.
