Central Tongu NCD Coordinator Urges Stronger Focus on Men’s Health

Diana Sena Awutey, the Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) Programme Coordinator for the Central Tongu District Health Directorate, has emphasized the need to prioritize men's health, with a specific focus on diabetes, hypertension, and prostate cancer.

She noted that an analysis of routine health records from the District Health Information Management System (DHIMS 2) highlights a clear disparity between men and women when it comes to seeking healthcare.

While women frequently engage with health services through established channels like antenatal care, child welfare clinics, and screenings for breast and cervical cancer, men lack similar targeted programmes. Consequently, fewer initiatives exist to encourage men to visit health facilities for routine education and preventive screenings.
