Ahafo Ano South West DCE Abubakar Sedik Passes Away After Brief Illness

​The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Ahafo Ano South West in the Ashanti Region, Abubakar Sedik, has passed away following a brief illness. According to the local assembly, Mr. Sedik died on Sunday evening, September 20, 2026, shortly after returning to Mankranso from an official engagement in Kumasi. The sudden news has sent shockwaves through the district, with the Assembly confirming his demise via a solemn statement honoring his dedicated service to the community.

​Before his unexpected passing, Mr. Sedik had joined key regional stakeholders in Kumasi for a high-level meeting with the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Mahama Ayariga, regarding the completion of the Kejetia Phase Two Redevelopment project. His death comes at a time when the late DCE, who was also the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for the constituency in the 2024 elections, was actively steering local governance and infrastructure initiatives across the district.
