Physical construction of the 175.6-kilometre Accra-Kumasi Expressway is scheduled to begin in January 2027, with targeted completion by December 2028, according to Engineer Francis Ahlidza, Managing Director of Accra-Kumasi Expressway Limited.
Speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show on Tuesday, September 15, Engineer Ahlidza confirmed that the project operates on a strict two-year construction timeline once ground is broken. The international competitive procurement process is already underway, inviting interested firms to submit Expressions of Interest (EOI).
To ensure that only highly qualified contractors are selected for the major infrastructure project, the selection will be conducted through a two-stage evaluation process before contracts are finalized by the end of the year.
