20 Prisons Personnel Honored for Rapid Recapture of Escaped Convict

Twenty dedicated officers of the Ghana Prisons Service have received official commendation following the swift and successful recapture of an escaped inmate. The convict, 29-year-old Adams Ibrahim, was serving a six-month sentence for unlawful entry and stealing after failing to pay a court-imposed fine of GH¢3,600.

​Ibrahim managed to abscond after serving half of his initial term while deployed on external labor duty. His bid for freedom was short-lived, however, as the vigilant prison officers launched a targeted operation that led to his prompt arrest and return to custody.

​The swift response by the prison team was widely praised by service authorities for demonstrating high professionalism and efficiency in maintaining public safety. Following his recapture, Ibrahim now faces an additional charge of escaping from lawful custody, which is expected to extend his time behind bars significantly.
