The Ada West District Court has convicted two students from Ada Senior High Technical School (ADA SHTS) after they changed their pleas to guilty in connection with a violent assault on a fellow student. The court ordered 20-year-old Oscar Amemasor and 18-year-old Emmanuel Senunya to sign a 12-month bond to be of good behavior. The incident, which occurred in February 2026 and gained widespread public attention after video footage went viral on social media, showed Amemasor attacking the victim with a metal bar while Senunya held a cutlass.
The prosecution charged Amemasor with assault and Senunya with abetment of crime. Addressing the legal resolution, defense counsel Enock Teye Sewornu explained that the decision to alter their pleas was taken after evaluating the case holistically to ensure the best outcome for the young men. He noted that the court's decision to bind them over rather than impose custodial sentences brings immense relief to both the students and their families, allowing them to avoid a disrupted future as they prepare for higher education.
With the court proceedings officially concluded, the legal team confirmed that the conviction and subsequent bond clear the path for the duo to move forward with their lives. Both students recently received their secondary school exam results and are currently preparing for university admission. Counsel Sewornu emphasized that the resolution allows the young men to learn from the experience and focus entirely on continuing their academic pursuits without the ongoing weight of a prolonged trial.
