South Tongu Assembly Delivers 500 Dual Desks to End Classroom Furniture Shortage

​The South Tongu District Chief Executive Hon. Dzeklo Victoria has presented 500 dual desks to the District Directorate of Education. Funded through the 2025 District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) allocation, this vital intervention directly targets the persistent shortage of classroom seating that has long forced many pupils to endure inadequate learning conditions. With these new desks, hundreds of young learners will no longer have to sit on broken furniture, makeshift cement blocks, or bare floors, transforming their daily classroom experience into one of comfort and dignity.

​The newly procured furniture will immediately benefit approximately 1,000 pupils distributed across 16 schools in the district's 12 circuits. While the delivery primarily aims to support upper primary learners in Primary Four, Five, and Six, the allocation has been strategically planned so that Primary Three and Junior High School students can also utilize the desks where shortages are most severe. This targeted distribution ensures that the impact of the initiative is felt widely across both rural and urban schools within the district.

​Demonstrating a comprehensive approach to basic education, the South Tongu District Assembly is also prioritizing early childhood development. Alongside the dual desks, the Assembly has procured specialized hexagonal furniture designed specifically for kindergarten classrooms, with 200 pieces already ordered. By addressing furniture deficits from the kindergarten level through to Junior High School, local authorities are ensuring that every child in South Tongu gains access to a well-equipped, conducive learning environment.
