The Member of Parliament for South Dayi has urged the government to take a firm stance against xenophobic attacks targeting Ghanaians abroad, warning that the growing incidents pose a threat to the safety and dignity of Ghanaian citizens.

Speaking during parliamentary discussions on the matter, the lawmaker stressed that the country cannot remain silent while its nationals face intimidation and hostility in foreign jurisdictions. According to the MP, Ghana's diplomatic missions and relevant state institutions must intensify efforts to protect affected citizens and engage foreign authorities to ensure justice is served.

He argued that while Ghana remains committed to regional integration and peaceful coexistence, such values must be reciprocated by other nations within the sub-region and across the continent. The South Dayi legislator further called for calm among Ghanaians, cautioning against retaliatory actions that could escalate tensions.

He maintained that the most effective response lies in diplomacy, dialogue and the enforcement of international laws that safeguard the rights of migrants and foreign residents. He also emphasized the need for African countries to strengthen cooperation in addressing issues that fuel xenophobic sentiments. His remarks come amid growing public concern over reports of attacks and discrimination against foreign nationals in parts of Africa.

The debate in Parliament reflects increasing calls for government intervention, with many lawmakers urging authorities to prioritize the welfare of Ghanaians abroad while preserving the country's long-standing commitment to peace, tolerance and Pan-African unity.
