SHS Heads Warned Against Admitting Students Outside CSSPS

1 min read
Hon. Haruna Iddrisu (Minister for Education)

The Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has instructed headteachers of Senior High Schools (SHS), Senior High Technical Schools, and Technical and Vocational Institutes to strictly refrain from admitting students who are not processed through the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS).

This order was formally communicated through the Directors-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES) and the Ghana TVET Service. Second cycle school leaders were explicitly cautioned against offering manual admissions or bypassing the official placement protocol.

A document obtained by the Daily Graphic highlighted the consequences for non compliance, stating that any school head confirmed through enrolment data checks to have admitted students outside the CSSPS framework will face sanctions under existing regulations and the established Code of Ethics.

The Ministry of Education emphasized that this policy is part of broader government efforts to expand secondary education access while maintaining transparency and fairness in the placement and enrolment process.
