NPP Set to Petition Supreme Court, Presidency, and Parliament

​The New Patriotic Party (NPP) will deliver three separate petitions to the Supreme Court, the Presidency, and Parliament on Thursday, August 6, as part of its nationwide demonstration tagged "Democracy Under Attack."

​Speaking at a media briefing on Wednesday, August 5, the party’s National Organiser, Henry Nana Boakye, detailed the route and schedule for the protest.

​Demonstrators will gather starting at 5:00 a.m. at the Community Centre directly opposite the Supreme Court. According to the party’s plan:

First Stop: The leadership will submit the initial petition at the Supreme Court.

Main Route: Protesters will then march past the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel, through the Efua Sutherland Ridge Roundabout and the Ako-Adjei Interchange, heading toward Jubilee House.

Second Stop: A second petition will be presented to the President at the main entrance of Jubilee House.

Parliamentary Delegation: Simultaneously, a separate group led by NPP parliamentary leaders and party elders will deliver the third petition directly to Parliament.

Mr. Boakye confirmed that the Ghana Police Service has been formally informed of the march. He stated that the police have agreed on the designated routes and promised to provide full security coverage throughout the event.

​The party emphasized that the demonstration is intended to be peaceful. Rather than causing disruption, the NPP aims to urge constitutional bodies and public leaders to defend justice, fairness, accountability, due process, and institutional independence across Ghana.
