NPP Postpones Nationwide Demonstration Over Questions of Legitimate Leadership

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially postponed a nationwide demonstration that was scheduled for Thursday, 6th August 2026. In a statement issued on 5th August from its headquarters in Accra, the party informed members, supporters and the general public that the planned action would not proceed as announced.

According to the release signed by General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong, the decision followed internal consultations. The party determined that Mr. Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, does not hold the legitimate authority to organise the demonstration on its behalf. The NPP stressed that it remains a law-abiding institution committed to internal procedures, due process and collective decision-making by its recognised organs.

No individual, the statement made clear, has the power to unilaterally commit the party to nationwide activities without the required mandate. A fresh date for any such demonstration will be announced only after the necessary lawful and organisational arrangements have been properly put in place.

The party urged all members and supporters to remain calm, united and law-abiding as it continues to champion good governance, economic recovery and national development. The full statement was released under the party’s longstanding motto: “Development in Freedom.”
