The Volta Regional Minister, Hon. James Gunu, has commissioned three state-of-the-art communication vans for the Information Services Department (ISD) at the Volta Regional Co-ordinating Council, marking a significant step toward enhancing public information delivery across the region.
The initiative is aimed at strengthening the government’s outreach efforts, ensuring that citizens in both urban and rural communities have timely access to accurate and relevant information.
The first communication van, designated for the Central Zone, will be stationed in Ho and will serve several districts including Ho, Ho West, Adaklu, Agotime-Ziope, Central Tongu, South Tongu, and North Tongu.
This deployment is expected to improve information dissemination in these areas by bringing government communication closer to the people and addressing gaps in public awareness on policies and programs.
Similarly, the second van will be stationed at Kpando to cater for the Northern Zone. It will serve districts such as Kpando, Hohoe, Afadzato South, South Dayi, and North Dayi. Meanwhile, the third van, assigned to the Southern Zone, will operate from Ketu South and cover Ketu South, Ketu North, Akatsi South, Akatsi North, Keta, and Anloga. Together, these vans will play a crucial role in extending the reach of the ISD and ensuring effective communication across all parts of the region.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, Hon. Gunu emphasized that the vans would help bridge the information gap, combat misinformation, and bring government policies directly to the doorstep of citizens.
He noted that in an era where misinformation can spread rapidly, strengthening official communication channels is essential for national development and social cohesion.
In addition to the vans, the department also received 19 desktop computers, one laptop, and 19 routers to enhance digital connectivity and operational efficiency. The Minister expressed gratitude to the government and commended Emmanuel Kwasi Domi and his team for their dedication. He further called on stakeholders to ensure proper maintenance of the equipment to guarantee maximum impact and long-term sustainability of the initiative.
