Ecobank Transnational Incorporated (“ETI”), the parent company of the Ecobank Group, has notified the Nigerian Exchange Limited, the Ghana Stock Exchange and the Bourse Régionale des Valeurs Mobilières (the “Stock Exchanges”) that it is seeking to raise funds from the international debt capital markets. This will be done through the issuance of Tier 2 qualifying Nature Notes pursuant to the United States Securities and Exchange Commission Rule 144A and Regulation S (the “Notes”). The net proceeds of the issue of the Notes will be deployed to finance the concurrent any-and-all tender offer of the ETI U.S.$350 million 8.750% Tier 2 notes due June 2031.

🚩The Government of Ghana is preparing to fully budget for and finance vaccines and critical medicines ahead of the gradual withdrawal of support from the Global Fund by 2029, Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has disclosed. According to the minister, government is taking deliberate steps to ensure that Ghana’s healthcare system remains resilient and sustainable even after external support declines. Dr. Forson made the remarks during a meeting with the World Health Organization’s Regional Director for Africa, Dr Mohamed Yakub Janabi, as part of discussions on strengthening Ghana’s health system.

🚩Fresh data from Maverick Research, which tracks over 15,000 products across 60 consumer categories nationwide, shows that Ghana’s fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector grew by 15% in value and 6% in volume in the first quarter of 2026. According to the market research firm, this looks like a solid rebound, but in reality, it reflects a more tentative recovery. “Prices are doing much of the heavy lifting, while demand is only slowly returning”, it stated. After a period of high inflation and shrinking purchasing power, Maverick Research said Ghana’s consumers are reentering the market, but not with abandon. “The result is an economy caught between stabilisation and fragility.
