The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Akatsi North, Hon. Bless Kodjo Katamani, has voiced deep concern regarding the district’s alarming performance in the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). Expressing his disappointment, the DCE revealed that the single best score he had recorded across the entire district was aggregate 45. Hon. Katamani noted that such dismal academic results do not reflect the potential of the local youth nor the huge expectations placed on them by the community.
Speaking during the official commissioning of a new three-unit classroom block at Nyitawuta, the District Chief Executive advised students to radically rethink their approach to their studies. He cautioned candidates and young learners to cut out major distractions that hinder academic success, explicitly highlighting excessive mobile phone use and frequent attendance at funerals. He urged pupils to channel their time and energy back into their textbooks, stressing that disciplined study habits are essential to achieving higher performance in future examinations.
Reminding the gathering of the massive collective effort going into local education, Hon. Katamani pointed out that the central government, the district assembly, and parents are making heavy investments to provide basic infrastructure and educational materials. He challenged the learners to justify these sacrifices by taking full advantage of the improved facilities. The DCE concluded by calling on community leaders, teachers, and guardians to join hands in instilling discipline, ensuring that the new investments translate into genuine academic excellence for the district.
