Ghana’s Minority Leader and Member of Parliament for Effutu, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has raised critical concerns regarding the operations of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), cautioning that the institution could soon find itself at the center of a significant scandal.
Speaking on the agency's current trajectory, Afenyo-Markin urged GoldBod’s leadership not to grow complacent, hinting that key operational details remain hidden from the public eye.
"GoldBod is a massive scandal waiting to break," Afenyo-Markin warned. "There are details we are aware of that they do not realize we know. They need to tread very carefully." he stated
His caution follows details emerging from an International Monetary Fund (IMF) report detailing severe financial losses under the Bank of Ghana’s Domestic Gold Purchase Programme an initiative executed through GoldBod.
