Preparations are complete for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Ashanti Regional Executive Elections, where 1,020 delegates will vote this Saturday to elect new regional leaders.
A total of 34 candidates are competing for 11 executive positions in what is expected to be a highly competitive internal race.
All eyes are on the Regional Chairmanship battle, which features two prominent party figures: Odeneho Kwaku Appiah (popularly known as COKA) and Dr. Henry Kwabena Kokofu, the former MP for Bantama and former CEO of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
The venue for the election, Kumasi Jubilee Park, is already buzzing with activity as campaign banners and posters of various candidates line the entrance and surrounding areas.
Key stakeholders including the Electoral Commission, the Ghana Police Service, and the NPP Election Committee have confirmed their readiness for the exercise, promising a smooth, transparent, and peaceful process.
