2022 World Cup: FIFA Goes Contrary To Tradition

One of the most well-known World Cup traditions is witnessing the host country open the competition by taking the field for the first time. This is normally the case, with the exception of 2002 when Japan and South Korea divided the organization. But things will be different in Qatar.

The Qatari team, which will compete in a World Cup for the first time, will not be in charge of the tournament’s opening game. The first game of the 2022 World Cup will be played between the Netherlands and Senegal, as confirmed by FIFA on Friday, April 1 after the draw in Doha.

England will face Iran in the second game on the first day of the Cup on November 21 before Qatar take on Ecuador.

The tournament is scheduled to take place between November and December this year.Ghana who qualified at the expense of Nigeria are in a tough group with Portugal, Uruguay, and South Korea.

On November 24, the Black Stars will play Portugal in their opening match.Four days later, they play South Korea before ending their group stage campaign on December 2 against Uruguay.
